John Wick Hex Goes Dark July 17, Reasons Remain Hidden.

John Wick Hex—the stylish, tactical action game that lets you channel your inner Baba Yaga—is disappearing from digital storefronts on, July 17. No dramatic sendoff, no farewell sale extravaganza.

At least that what they announced on their Steam’s page.

The publisher, Big Fan Games, has pulled the plug without much of an explanation, and while they’re keeping their lips sealed, industry instincts scream one thing: licensing drama.

Already Own It? You’re Safe.

If you already own the game, don’t panic. You can still re-download it anytime, and physical console copies won’t be affected. But for everyone else? This is your final countdown. After tomorrow, John Wick Hex will be gone—maybe forever.

Mike Bithell, the creative director at Bithell Games, seems just as blindsided as fans. While he couldn’t spill the beans on the reason behind the takedown, he did reflect on the journey: calling John Wick Hex a “weird ride” that went from divisive to beloved. This will be the first title of his to go dark—a bittersweet milestone.

From Cult Game to Collector’s Trophy

What started as a curiosity—a tactical take on the kinetic action of the John Wick films—has become a lowkey favorite in the indie gaming scene. With its slick visuals and pause-strategy combat, it gave fans a taste of Wick-style decision-making without needing Keanu’s reflexes.

Now? It’s on the fast track to digital cult classic status. And if you’re still on the fence—seriously, it’s going for around $4 on Humble right now. That’s less than your average coffee. Own a piece of gaming history before it becomes just another “remember that one game?” post on Reddit.
